NKY Chamber honors Webb, Colvin for community impact

A pair of leaders who’ve spent large portions of their careers working behind the scenes to uplift the people of Northern Kentucky stepped into the spotlight as the community recognized their decades of contributions.

Kim Webb, CEO of the Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky, and Garren Colvin, president and CEO of Edgewood-based St. Elizabeth Healthcare, each received a Northern Kentucky Community Award from the NKY Chamber of Commerce at this month’s Eggs ‘N Issues event.

The award, launched in 2018, recognizes individuals, businesses and organizations that help power the region’s success and vitality. Past honorees have included Kevin Canafax of Fidelity Investments; Julie Kirkpatrick of meetNKY; Kay Geiger of PNC; Paul Verst of Verst Logistics; Wonda Winkler of Brighton Center; David Wallace of Heritage Bank; and Alecia Webb-Edgington of the Life Learning Center.

Webb and Colvin join their ranks, recognized for their years of leadership in the fields of social service and healthcare, respectively.

Webb joined the ESNKY – a low-barrier night shelter – a decade ago as executive director and became CEO in May. She helped steer a $4.2 million capital campaign that paved the way for the shelter’s move into a state-of-the-art Covington facility in 2022. Webb also serves in several statewide and regional leadership roles, including the Kentucky Department of Public Health Harm Reduction Advisory Committee, the Kentucky Interagency Council on Homelessness and the Safety Net Alliance of Northern Kentucky Executive Committee.

She is a Leadership Council for Nonprofits board member and an alum of both Leadership Kentucky (2022) and Leadership Northern Kentucky (2017).

“Kim Webb’s leadership over the last 10 years has transformed the Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky into a vital resource for our region,” said NKY Chamber President and CEO Brent Cooper. “Through her dedication and compassion, she and her team have expanded critical services for the homeless population while continuing its mission to educate the community and advocate for dignity, safety and housing solutions for everyone.”

Colvin, a Ludlow native, began his career more than 40 years ago as a student co-op in St. Elizabeth Healthcare’s finance department. He rose through multiple leadership roles before being named CEO in 2015. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business administration from Thomas More University and an MBA from Northern Kentucky University. His community involvement also spans the NKY Chamber, the Kentucky Hospital Association, the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky, OneNKY Alliance and LifeSciKY, a nonprofit life sciences incubator based in Covington where he serves as co-chair.

“Through his leadership at St. Elizabeth, Garren has continued to make strides in expanding our community’s access to high-quality care,” Cooper said. “He guided the health system through the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, so patients received the critical care they needed.”

Cooper also highlighted Colvin’s past service as chair of the NKY Chamber’s board of directors.

“His ongoing commitment to Northern Kentucky continues to strengthen our health and vitality making him the perfect candidate for a NKY Community Award,” Cooper said.
