Muñoz Foundation opens applications for college scholarships

The Anthony Muñoz Foundation is now accepting applications for its college scholarship programs, offering thousands of dollars to local high school seniors pursuing higher education.

This year, students can apply for the foundation’s Straight ‘A’ Scholarship, the Scholarship Fund and a collaborative scholarship with Mount St. Joseph University.

“Straight ‘A’” stands for Academic excellence, Athletic achievement, Active community service, Ambition, Attitude and the ability to overcome Adversity. Supported by Mike’s Carwash, the scholarship will provide $42,000 in college awards to 18 Tri-State seniors this year. Each student will receive $2,000, and the foundation will select one male and one female student as Overall Straight ‘A’ Students of the Year, awarding them an additional $3,000 for a total of $5,000.

Educators, mentors, coaches and school administrators can submit nominations by Friday, Feb. 27. Nomination forms and eligibility requirements appear at munozfoundation.org/straightascholarship.

The Foundation’s Scholarship Fund grants multiple $20,000 awards to Tri-State seniors based on financial need, academic achievement, ability to overcome adversity and ambition. The selection committee will evaluate applicants, invite finalists to interview by mid-May, and announce recipients at the end of May. The foundation will present the awards during its annual Hall of Fame Dinner on Sunday, June 7.

Students must submit applications by Friday, April 24 at munozfoundation.org/scholarship-fund.

The Mount St. Joseph University x Anthony Muñoz Foundation Scholarship offers up to four $2,500 awards annually, totaling $10,000 over four years per student, for high school seniors planning to attend MSJ. Students can apply now through Saturday, Jan. 31 at munozfoundation.org/scholarship-fund/msj-scholarship.

Since its founding in April 2002, the Anthony Muñoz Foundation has awarded nearly $750,000 to more than 340 students through its Straight ‘A’ Scholarship and more than $2.3 million to over 115 students through its Scholarship Fund.
