The Cincinnati Concours d’Elegance Foundation has appointed longtime nonprofit leader and community volunteer Carrie VanDerzee as its new executive director, succeeding Julie Wyte, who led the organization for four years.
The foundation is the philanthropic arm of the annual Cincinnati Concours d’Elegance event that draws car enthusiasts to Hyde Park for a weekend of motoring excellence, featuring more than 200 cars and motorcycles. The foundation directs all proceeds to the Arthritis Foundation, with a special focus on programs for juvenile arthritis.
As part of her new role, VanDerzee will oversee the foundation’s staff and volunteer network as they plan the 2026 Concours d’Elegance, set for June 13-14 in Ault Park. This year’s event will celebrate “100 Years of Mercedes-Benz” and continue the tradition of showcasing classic cars in the park’s formal gardens, culminating in a brunch at the historic pavilion.
In its hiring announcement, the foundation’s board chairman, Dave Sheehy, noted that VanDerzee brings a wealth of experience in “nonprofit leadership, strategic vision and community engagement that aligns perfectly with our mission.”
She previously served as CEO of The Victorian at Riverside, a long-standing nonprofit providing assisted living and senior care in Greater Cincinnati. She was also director of development at One Way Farm Children’s Home, leading fundraising and other resource building efforts.
VanDerzee is also the co-owner, editor and publisher of “The Blue Book of Cincinnati,” the oldest continuous American subscription society directory. Its members are the region’s cultural, philanthropic, business and social-life leaders.
Beyond her professional work, VanDerzee has a strong record of volunteer leadership with civic and charitable organizations in the Cincinnati area. She lives in Cincinnati’s North Avondale neighborhood.
“We are confident that her commitment to building strong partnerships and leading community-focused nonprofit organizations will strengthen both the Cincinnati Concours d’Elegance event and the Foundation’s charitable impact,” Sheehy said.
