Cincinnati ToolBank won the Affiliate of the Year “Golden Hammer” Award from ToolBank USA during the organization’s national awards ceremony in Nashville late last month.
ToolBank USA, a national nonprofit, presents the award each year to one of its 12 affiliates that best exemplifies its mission of equipping organizations and volunteers with the tools and resources they need to serve their communities. The honor also includes a $2,500 grant to support the winning affiliate’s mission.
Cincinnati ToolBank lends physical resources and technical expertise to local charitable organizations so they can complete projects focused on uplifting communities across Southwest Ohio.
Through partnerships with organizations including the Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission, Keep Cincinnati Beautiful and the Reds Community Fund, volunteers removed more than 75,000 pounds of trash from the Ohio River and surrounding neighborhoods while helping install playgrounds and support other community revitalization projects. It also hosts a Training Center to help individuals get into local building trades.
In 2025, the Cincinnati ToolBank equipped 36,145 volunteers and supported 7,168 service projects by providing nearly $1.8 million worth of tools and equipment to nonprofit partners. Member agencies saved more than $1.6 million by borrowing tools instead of purchasing them.
“This recognition reflects the incredible collaboration between our staff, board, volunteers, and nonprofit partners,” said Kat Pepmeyer, CEO of Cincinnati ToolBank. “When nonprofits have access to the right tools and equipment, they can accomplish extraordinary things for our community.”
