Applications are due next week for ArtWorks’ upcoming Your Name Here gallery fellowship, a free program for artists ages 16 to 24.
“Naps, Nebulas, and Neurons” — one of five fellowship cohorts planned for 2026 — is geared toward emerging artists and the educators who work with them, offering hands-on studio experience, mentorship and a public exhibition.
The program focuses on strengthening both technical skills and conceptual development. Fellows will develop mark-making as a personal visual language while learning printmaking, scanning and digital layering techniques, experimenting with materials and processes along the way. The goal is to better understand how repetition and rhythm communicate meaning.
For this session, which runs May 11–July 3, Artist-in-Residence Daryl Myntia Daniels will guide fellows in exploring how personal objects, cultural tools and everyday gestures can shape that process.
Throughout the cohort, participants will work across printmaking, scanning and digital layering, examining how texture, rhythm and repetition can reveal new dimensions in their work, according to the fellowship website. The program also encourages artists to reflect on personal objects, memories and gestures, reworking them into creative tools through a blend of analog and digital approaches.
Daniels will draw from her practice — including the use of the Afro pick as both a drawing tool and cultural symbol — to help participants translate small, hand-made marks into layered prints and digital compositions.
By the end of the program, each participant will have a cohesive body of work and the option to sell pieces in a culminating exhibition, opening July 31. Participating fellows will keep 75% of the proceeds from any sales, ArtWorks said.
The application and details are available online.
