Still time for photographers to apply to Manifest’s FotoFocus exhibition

Photographers exploring memory, time and what lingers beyond a single moment have just under two weeks to get their work in front of an international audience.

Cincinnati’s Manifest Creative Research Gallery and Drawing Center is accepting submissions through July 19 for “The Sweep of Time: Beyond the Horizon,” a juried exhibition that will be part of the 2026 FotoFocus Biennial. It’ll open Sept. 25 and run through Oct. 23.

The show invites artists working in photography and other lens-based media to explore themes including time, memory, distance and continuity. According to a release from the gallery, the exhibition asks artists to consider “how the photographic moment relates to what persists – in time, in meaning, in us.”

Manifest says the exhibition takes inspiration from the writings of Roman emperor and philosopher Marcus Aurelius, using “the sweep of time” as a framework for works that look beyond the immediacy of a single image.

The call is open internationally. Artists may submit up to three works for a $45 entry fee, with additional entries costing $5 each. Artists may choose whether or not to offer their work for sale. If sold, artists receive 70% of the sale price.

Every exhibiting artist will receive a $50 honorarium, and all exhibited works will be eligible for a $1,000 Grand Jury Award for the exhibition period.

“The Sweep of Time: Beyond the Horizon” is one of the first exhibitions launching Manifest’s 23rd season and aligns with the 2026 FotoFocus Biennial theme, “The Long View.”

More information and application details are available on Manifest Gallery’s website.
