More than 15,000 people have helped raise $20,000 for local environmental nonprofits through MadTree’s charitable Tree Fund this year.
Customers contributed while making purchases at MadTree’s Oakley Taproom and MadTree Parks & Rec. All Tree Fund proceeds go to local environmental nonprofits. The giving also comes just ahead from the brewery’s participation in the annual ReLeaf tree giveaway.
“MadTree is deeply grateful to our community for trusting and choosing us as the place to connect with and celebrate with each other. By sharing a beer, Sway, or meal with us, you directly help fund local environmental nonprofits,” MadTree CEO Rhiannon Hoeweler said in a statement. “Your belief in what we do powers this work, and together, we are planting a better future for generations to come.”
The $20,000 is part of MadTree’s broader effort to support the community. Through its 1% for the Planet initiative, the brewery directs 1% of its sales to local nonprofits and efforts to reduce its environmental impact, including planting trees and flowers and creating public spaces for people to gather and play.
MadTree says it is working toward $5 million in community and environmental impact by 2030.
The milestone comes as Cincinnati Parks prepares for its annual Fall ReLeaf program, which provides free trees to Cincinnati residents. Registration for residents in low-canopy neighborhoods opens at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12. Registration opens to all Cincinnati residents at 8 a.m. Sept. 19.
Residents can register for a free tree and learn more about Fall ReLeaf through Cincinnati Parks.
