It is difficult to say which is growing faster: the average age of our population or the rate of advancements in technology that many of us use every day. To get an idea of how seniors and technology intersect in our region, we spoke with experts from five organizations serving older adults.
If you ask Marty Humes what’s kept her going through more than four decades of volunteer work, you’ll likely get a simple answer: “It’s the people. When people come together, it’s a very powerful thing, what they can accomplish and do. That’s been the driving force.”
“If you could see what I see in one day visiting a preschool, you would never question the value of early childhood education,” she added. “It will take your breath away.”
Mooney-Bullock’s own interest in the environment sparked at a young age and was fueled by her family, her faith and lots of time outside.
When he entered Prospect House in 1995, John Earls felt rudderless. He’s come a long way since then. So far, in fact, that he recently took the helm of the East Price Hill-based residential drug and alcohol treatment center.

“The BLINK parade is unlike any other parade Cincinnati has. It is truly an art parade. It will feel like a magical nighttime performance,” said Krulewitch-Browne. This year’s theme: “Together: a constellation of shared cultures and unique identities; we illuminate joy through creative expression.”
This ‘relentless optimist’ grew up with ethic of helping people.
Throughout her career in healthcare, Kate Schroder has seen “unacceptable disparities” in health equity at the global level.
“There is enough food production, but people are hungry. That’s the absurdity.” To address it, she sees the need to do things differently.
“Don’t randomly click links online unless you’re prepared for your whole life to change,” joked Megan Fischer, CEO and founder of Sweet Cheeks Diaper Bank. She’s qualified to offer the advice, considering that’s exactly what happened to her.
