Culture FIX: March 25-31

You’ve no doubt noticed that the first round of spring flowers exploded in color last week. The region’s stages are bursting like that this week with music and drama. Think of it as cultural March madness: We’ll make the first cut, but you have to fill your bracket from there.

Culture FIX: March 11-17

The curse has been lifted! Daylight saving time is back, which means you can actually get home from work while it’s still light. It’s also a powerful motivator for getting out to enjoy some evening activities. An art opening? Concert? Cultural festival? Take your pick. There’s plenty to go around.

Culture FIX: Feb. 18-24

What a difference a week makes. The snow is a melted memory, and overeager daffodils are more than an inch tall in the front bed. If you were perfectly willing to wait winter out, you’ve succeeded. Time to get out and see what Cincinnati has to offer. Turns out it’s a lot. Read on.

Culture FIX: Jan. 21-27

I know what you’re thinking: It won’t even break freezing for five of the next seven days. Why would I want to go out there? You do, though, because there’s a bomb cyclone’s worth of events to warm your spirit. Read on and feel the chill melt away.

What we need this week is a good-ol’ Christmas miracle. Short of figuring out how to clone yourself, that’s the only way you’ll be able to get to all the great events in store for us over the next seven days. Read on and pick your favorites. Then relax and enjoy: There are no wrong answers.

Culture FIX: Nov. 12-18

Uhhhh, what was that falling from the sky earlier this week? Could it be that winter will actually come? Don’t panic. Just find someplace cozy to settle in with a good book, a good story, good jazz or good chamber music. Don’t know where to do that? Fortunately, I have a few suggestions. Read on.

Culture FIX: Oct. 8-14

Can we believe it this time? Is it really, finally fall? Besides crisp nights and the smell of bonfires, the most sentimental season offers plenty of opportunities to indulge ourselves in a cornucopia of culture, from our river history to new creators for the concert hall and cinema. Like a pile of leaves, let’s dive in.

Culture FIX: Sept. 10-16

If you feel a little swing in your step this week, it might be all the great jazz you can hear from our fair city’s rooftops, parks and plazas. Dance, drama and divas are on tap, too, plus some history to absorb and historic skills to appreciate. Just another full week of arts and culture in Greater Cincinnati.
