Culture FIX: July 9-15

“Summertime, and the livin’ is” … muggy. Do we let that stop us from a smorgasbord of arts and cultural entertainment? Of course not. Now that your ears have stopped ringing from the fireworks on the Fourth, don some light-weight clothes and head out to enjoy what summer in the city has to offer.

Culture FIX: June 11-17

June is busting out all over, if by “busting out” you mean heading outdoors. Festival season is in full swing, which means great food and entertainment. If outdoors isn’t your thing, there’s the usual breadth of indoor options, from opera to experimental theater, film to impressionist art, and literature out loud to the Harlem Renaissance. Read on…

Culture FIX: May 14-20

Don’t blame me. Around Casa di Consoli, we call the celestial alignment when it seems every organization in town decides to offer major events at the same time as an Every Weekend. We have one of ’em on tap this week – especially on Saturday (good grief!). Just remember: I was not in charge of scheduling.

Culture FIX: April 16-22

In case you weren’t quite sure, yes, it is officially spring. Your confusion is understandable, given nighttime freeze warnings, 80-degree days and storms in between. In case you wish to wait it out indoors until things settle down, there’s plenty to choose from: Renaissance masters, rom-coms, or the latest art from both in town and across the country. Read on.

Culture FIX: March 12-18

Well, faith and begorrah, it looks like we’ll have some spring at last. Combined with later sunsets, the warmup is our annual cue to get back out in the world. You’ll have no shortage of options. Whether it’s the wearin’ of the green, avant-garde chamber music, saving endangered wildlife or a Hollywood classic on stage, we’ve got you covered.

Culture FIX: Feb. 12-18

The region’s arts calendar is full speed ahead with compelling offerings on stage, screen and gallery. Further, while there’s not so much blatant pandering to the holiday, St. Valentine has filled his quiver with cultural opportunity, too. Whether you’re celebrating love or wishing the world would stop talking about it, we’ve got you covered.

Culture FIX: Jan. 22-28

At some point, one would think Greater Cincinnati’s cultural scene would have to take a bit of a breather, like when network television airs a week of reruns before sweeps. This week seems like a fine candidate, too, with most days struggling to climb to freezing. One would be wrong, though.

Culture FIX: Jan. 15-21

It’s tough to lure people from a cozy living room when the thermometer needs only one digit to report on the weather outside. Our Fair City’s purveyors of art and culture want you to know, though, that they’re up to the challenge – even as many are packing up the holiday boxes. It’s an especially hot week for music, same as it ever was.

Culture FIX: Dec. 11-17

Like the song says, ev’rybody’s waitin’ for the man with the bag. It won’t be long now. In the meantime, the region has cooked up an impressive sack of goodies for the senses. As you’d expect this time of year, it’s heavy on the music. But there’s much more than that. Read on, make your list and check it twice before heading out.

Culture FIX: Oct. 2-8

Compared to those farther south who lost homes, livelihoods and even their lives to Hurricane Helene, Greater Cincinnati got off easy. Still, the storm’s wind and rain washed out what promised to be a fall-filled weekend. We’ll try again this week with music, a visual feast of film and photos, and, yes, some outdoor activities, too.
