TEDxCincinnati will mark its eighth year with the theme “Reinvent.”
The program will feature local and national speakers and performances. Topics vary year to year but usually include wellness, entertainment, technology, health, learning and more.

The most basic elements of any story are a beginning, a middle and an end. The more nuanced elements include an introduction, interesting characters, conflict, high stakes, transformation and resolution. By any of these measures, the story of Cincy Stories remains incomplete. The end, or resolution, is nowhere in sight. But the power of a story, in the telling and the hearing, has been plain to see.
Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Jon Meacham will be the final speaker in this season’s Montgomery Woman’s Club Town Hall Lecture Series.

Repeat after us: Pay no attention to the falling snow. It’s spring. It’s really spring. Whatever Mother Nature’s capricious weather, there are still plenty of great reasons to get out of the house this week for great arts offerings. In particular, although Holy Week doesn’t start until Sunday, Easter-themed programs are popping up like daffodils.

However one looks at it, this is a week of transition: Winter is fading but hasn’t completely surrendered. Daylight saving time has begun, returning our early mornings to darkness. For observant Christians, Lent is half over, but Easter is still weeks away. It’s the same in our arts scene, with events looking forward and back, opening and closing. Here are some not to miss.
The AJC Cincinnati and the Jewish Community Relations Council, the nonpartisan public affairs arm of the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati, will host a community forum to examine the immigration issue.

It might prove a little more difficult to focus in coming weeks. The daffodils already are opening, and daylight saving time will give us an extra hour of evening light. Best to make sure you’ve seen the region’s most important arts events before spring fever seizes you. Here’s a manageably short list.

The spectrum is overflowing this week, to mix my metaphors. From the history of Jews in China to live cinema, from an operatic superstar to a masterpiece of 20th century orchestral music and the minting of a brand new art gallery, there is no excuse for sitting on your couch in the days to come. Don’t succumb! Explore!
