First Step Home helps new moms break free of addiction

First Step Home’s Rose Award Gala will support its Maternal Addiction Program and honor the late Terry Schoenling by naming its new building in her memory. The organization aims to help women break the cycle of addiction and abuse so they can become self-sufficient and provide a safe, nurturing environment for their children.

Get a little wild at Zoo La La

Zoo La La is Cincinnati Zoo’s wildest summer party for a purpose. Set in the zoo’s newest exhibit, “Africa,” this adults night out will include zoo-nique cocktails, a raffle full of special zoo experiences, the opportunity to mingle with animal ambassadors and the chance see your favorite animals up close, including a special Cheetah Encounter experience.

Adam Steltzner will be in Cincinnati next Wednesday, April 27, as keynote speaker for the Bethesda Lyceum. He’s a TED speaker, an author, and a real live rocket scientist who spent 10 years designing and building the Mars Curiosity Rover and served as its landing lead.

Heart Mini breaks records

15k winner William McManus

Despite a time change, intermittent rain and a possible downtown visit from Donald Trump, the Heart Mini on March 13 drew its largest crowd ever, with a record-breaking 27,300 runners and walkers. Greater Cincinnati’s largest fundraiser for the American Heart Association was presented by Mercy Health.
