Culture FIX: Feb. 7-13

Weekends are certainly the time to get out and enjoy a concert or an art exhibit, but have you ever tried relaxing in front of an artsy movie or some jazz after a long day at work? Take advantage of an empty restaurant or easy downtown parking on a Monday night and plan an evening at The Woodward. How about some Camp Washington Chili and the American Sign Museum on Thursday?

Culture FIX: Jan. 31-Feb. 6

We’re at that awkward stage in Culture FIX this week: Some events still mark our bleak midwinter, while hints of Mardi Gras and (dare we say it?) spring start elbowing their way in. Throw in the revival of a dreaded vampire and an invasion of toothy furry creatures and some atrocious puns …

Culture FIX: Jan. 24-30

If this week’s culture agenda doesn’t get you off the couch, nothing will. Visual art takes a commanding lead with a bevy of exhibit openings. If music is your gig, the CSO plays a crowd-pleasing program of Mozart favorites (no, there won’t be “too many notes”), while Christ Church Cathedral music tunes up, again, after their busy holiday season. Enjoy!

Culture FIX: Jan. 17-23

Is it cold enough for you yet? Now that actual winter weather has arrived, many of us may feel that instinct to just hibernate and watch football. And yet, good reasons do exist to get out and participate in Cincinnati culture this week. The calendar may be thinner than usual, but there’s still a good selection of events to warm that winter chill.

Culture FIX: Jan. 10-16

In the bleak midwinter the Cincinnati arts scene is far from bleak. Resist the urge to settle in under a cozy blanket with a good book. Venture out and continue to support artists and performers who contribute to our culture year ‘round.

Culture FIX: Jan. 3-9

Happy New Year and welcome back! We are excited to explore with you all of the arts and culture the Queen City has to offer in 2024. Enjoy this week’s offerings to ease you back into your culture routine once all of the pecan pie and everything cheese is gone.

Culture FIX: Dec. 13-19

If too much shopping and singing and decorating have you in a squeeze, take a night off and relax with something outside of your holiday norm. And this being our last Culture FIX of 2023, make sure to check out TICKET WATCH at the bottom of this column for remaining December events you should get your tickets for NOW! Have a warm and festive holiday season and see you next year.

Culture FIX: Nov. 29-Dec. 5

The leaves are raked, the lights are up, the turkeys have been picked clean (and so, some say, have the Bengals) … And now, ’tis the season! Make way for a feast of holiday fare: “The Nutcracker,” “Messiah,” “Feast of Carols,” “White Christmas,” “Advent Lessons” and other favorites highlight the week.

Culture FIX: Nov. 22-28

Take a deep breath and rest a bit before the culture-saturated holiday season heats up. Enjoy time with family and friends and take in some Queen City favorites, together. Families can enjoy the Christkindlmarkt or some fun on the Purple People Bridge. Or, drop the kids at Grandma’s and head out for a date night to the symphony. Happy Thanksgiving to all.
