The university’s regional campuses in Hamilton and Middletown launched the Department of Applied Computing and Engineering Technology as part of its expansion of hands-on, career-focused education. The department also is adding two associate degree programs.
The Cincinnati Career Pathways Initiative is a three-year effort to examine how students and families navigate career-connected learning and identify ways to improve access to education, training and in-demand careers.
The new polytechnic is intended to give students more pathways to degrees and credentials while emphasizing hands-on learning, industry collaboration, partnership-driven education and programs aligned with Ohio’s workforce priorities.

Audrey Treasure is vice president and executive director of the Workforce Innovation Center at the Cincinnati Regional Chamber. “I really like people, and I really like making connections, and I really like solving problems,” Treasure said. “That’s what this work is: Working with people, connecting them to one another and saying ‘Let’s solve this problem.’ ”
Across the region, nonprofits are helping individuals navigate the often-complex path to meaningful employment. Movers & Makers spoke with 10 organizations that are actively shaping these pathways, serving populations ranging from young adults stepping into their first jobs to individuals facing barriers like housing instability, poverty or gaps in education and experience.
The event at National Underground Railroad Freedom Center aims to introduce students to careers ranging from design to health care.
“We believe that remote professionals working in our region deserve more than a virtual address – they deserve community, connection and access to opportunities,” said Brendon Cull, the Chamber’s president and CEO.
The Grissom Drive facility serves as a one-stop hub where Clermont County residents can access resources for things like job training, disability support and a range of community programs.
The demolition of the Rookwood Commons salon allowed Building Value to divert construction waste from local landfills while giving its trainees hands-on, on-the-job training.
