We Are One: Roots runs March 12-16 and digs into the musical connection between West African and African American traditions. That theme runs through three public concerts, in-school workshops and community programs that stretch across Greater Cincinnati.
Each grant provides up to $10,000 for efforts such as African cultural festivals, free Shakespeare performances, library concert tours and community art activations.
The annual grant program aims to support Black-led organizations or projects focused on uplifting the African American community through art.
The board of trustees for ArtsWave recently approved $9,900,084 in grant expenditures from its recent 2023 Community Campaign, slated to support more than 150 regional arts organizations.
With our July press deadline breathing down our necks (this morning!), we enlisted three M&M interns to share their take on some of this week’s events. Much gratitude to Kathryn Puskas, Emma Segrest and Katie Wenzel for their input. So, from a few of us to all of you, happy culture shopping and sampling.
