Culture FIX: Sept. 2-8

Summer continues to rage, but the arts have no intention of letting 90-degree heat win. Stay inside with lectures and art openings. Cincinnati Pops goes to “La La Land” and Cincinnati Music Theatre gives an exam after their show. KSO finishes up outdoor offerings and Phil DeGreg provides lunchtime respite. Enjoy yourself.

Culture FIX: July 1-7

Founding Father John Adams said that future generations should celebrate American independence “with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more.” Well, we’ve certainly followed his advice!

Culture FIX: May 20-26

We say Greater Cincinnati offers a cultural feast. With Memorial Day earlier than usual, though, the warm season overlaps the traditional season. That means twice the fun and enlightenment this week, whether it’s eclectic music across an entire neighborhood, fresh sounds at a classical festival or a literal feast to kick off summer. Culture FIX: Feb. 25-March 3

Cincinnati Opera gears back up just as the Early Music Festival winds down. Never a dull moment in this town. A piano concerto for only the left hand? Jazz and theater (or is that thea-TRE) abound or you can live it up at Art After Dark. There’s a little bit of something for everybody this week.

Some of us haven’t even finished slicing the last tasty bits off the Thanksgiving turkey, and already we’re full steam ahead with big Christmas-season events all around. It’s a busy, busy week for arts and culture. Take a look.

Culture FIX: Nov. 12-18

Uhhhh, what was that falling from the sky earlier this week? Could it be that winter will actually come? Don’t panic. Just find someplace cozy to settle in with a good book, a good story, good jazz or good chamber music. Don’t know where to do that? Fortunately, I have a few suggestions. Read on.

Culture FIX: July 2-8

If you thought there would be a lull in cultural enrichment during the holiday weekend, think again. Patriotic music. Some great jazz in our great parks. A reading of the Declaration of Independence. Cool indoor alternatives at the Woodward Theater and Mercantile Library. A walk-and-talk at spectacular Spring Grove Cemetery. May the Fourth be with you.

Culture FIX, May 21-27

This is the week many Cincinnatians have been waiting for – the unofficial start of summer, as the May Festival has its last spring fling in Music Hall, Taste of Cincinnati takes over downtown, and outdoor events bring people out to enjoy the warmer weather in public parks and civic spaces. So let’s get out there!

Culture FIX: Nov. 27-Dec. 3

Yours Truly always appreciates the outdoor creativity this town inspires. Fountain Square and The Genius of Water lend themselves to seasonal activities. Our riverfront always provides something fun and interesting to do, eat, hear or buy. Make your way downtown to hear some iconic film music performed by the best Cincinnati has to offer.
