Culture FIX: Nov. 8-14

Yours Truly is truly glad to be back on the beat, guiding you in search of your next FIX. This week is a cornucopia of events from art openings to movies to a big brass band. Indulge yourself before the busy holiday season really gears up and find something inspiring or fun or relaxing to do.

Culture FIX: Oct. 18-24

Fall is definitely here. Yep, leaves are falling and so is the temperature, but the Queen City never falls short of artsy things to do. Get a serious percussion fix or check out some interesting art openings. May Festival makes a special ,off-season appearance or you can hear a little mid-week Beethoven. Aaaand, there’s COFFEE.

Culture FIX: Oct 11-17

Autumn is upon us. The stunning colors and the crisp air invite us to get out and enjoy the season leading up to a gorgeous Hunter’s moon at the end of the month. Outdoor fun is winding down, but there are a lot of warm and cozy things to do inside this week. The CSO has fired back up and there are some interesting movies on tap. And, there’s sauerkraut. Enjoy plentiful theater and jazz as the Queen City falls headlong into, well, Fall.

Culture FIX: Sept. 20-26

Artistry is all around us. Art is an exhilarating dance in a food market. Art is relished in old, beautifully restored buildings. Art is participatory on historic bridges. Well-appointed concert halls are nice. Expertly curated museums are comfortable, but try on something new this week.

Culture FIX: Sept. 6-12

It’s easy to assume that, with the last blast of Labor Day Weekend behind us, fall has arrived. Well, not quite. The weather is saying otherwise, and the autumnal equinox doesn’t arrive until Saturday, Sept. 23. Let’s not rush things.

I’ve got the brochures piled up from the Playhouse, Ensemble Theatre, Cincinnati Shakespeare Company. There are so many great plays to choose from for the 2023-24 season. We haven’t decided yet which we’re going to take a chance on. Because it is taking a chance: Tickets are expensive, and not every production is a winner.

Culture FIX: Aug. 23-29

A long-dead artist, a terrible opera singer, a friendly but homesick alien and a Man in Black walk into a bar . . . Well, wait a minute. Actually, they’re walking into Culture FIX this week. There’s no punch line here, just another varied, unpredictable week full of activity in Cincinnati’s arts and culture scene.

Culture FIX: Aug. 2-8

Summer temperatures might be wafting down, but the Cincinnati arts and culture scene is still hot, hot, HOT! The Queen City’s plate is heaped with diversity this week. You can shop or paddle or read and there’s always something interesting to eat. (Goetta is “interesting,” I’ll give it that). Load up your calendar and enjoy!
