Funding from the Cincinnati-based organization will expand the Howard Centers for Investigative Journalism at the Arizona State University and the University of Maryland.
The grants went to 25 organizations that provide direct services such as summer reading programs, literacy tools for underserved students and essential resources for families in crisis.
For every $6 donated, the Cincinnati-based Fund gives a book to a child in need. The organization’s aim is to provide every student in partner Title I schools with 10 books each year.
Meredith Delaney has been with the Scripps Howard Fund since 2017. She’s currently the charity’s director of philanthropic strategies.
