Culture FIX: May 1-7

The fact that our city can support dozens of smaller galleries and community theater groups, plus children’s performing ensembles and music in churches at lunchtime speaks to how deeply the love and appreciation of arts and culture runs in us. To say nothing of the talent! Have a look and find something new, something smaller-but-mighty to experience this week.

Culture FIX: May 10-16

This week begins with a film about office work and ends with a talk about how finding a place to put your car at work shapes our lives. But there are many other options in between: scads of arts and crafts (indoor and out), music (Duke Ellington to Electro Swing to Mambo), more films (from small town Mass. to revolutionary India to a Filipina country singer), hip-hop poetry and soil-to-soil fashion. Goodness!

Culture FIX: Nov. 30-Dec. 6

A sprinkling of holiday-themed events awaits this week, among a truly interesting smorgasbord of experiences. The key is finding the ones that will transport you where you’d like to go.

Culture FIX: Dec. 15-21

“It’s the holiday season…” Or so they tell me. Having spent a week in Mexico City before they decorate (Nothing much begins there until Dec. 12), we find ourselves in catch-up mode this week. Nothing puts you in the mood more, however, than plowing through a week’s worth of Christmas concert listings. Here’s a helping heaping… enjoy!

Culture FIX: Nov. 17-23

It used to be that major acts passed us by. No longer. Check out this list, with local treasures too, and take advantage of what is a formidable collection of unique opportunities. We have definitely hit the big time.

What to Do/See/Hear | Nov. 1-7

Thanks to daylight saving time’s demise, we get an extra hour to enjoy this week, and not a moment too soon. There’s more than enough to do to fill the time – especially if you enjoy the sound of a chorus. Even if that’s not your cup of tea, fear not. There’s art, film and theater aplenty.
