You’d think mid-August would bring a huge lull to Culture FIX. But summer arts series are still in high gear, new art exhibits are opening, and even some “fall” seasons are underway. There’s lots to do!

Beyond ceramics madness this week, there are other options a-plenty in music, theater, dance, comedy and Legos (yet another madness in its own). Fit these in and around Xavier and NKU b-ball games, or as a substitute if things get ugly – your choice!

Culture FIX: June 8-14

This week’s events tend to explore the edges, the avant-garde, things created just outside the spectrum, touching on civil rights, gender and sexual identity, the environment and the war in Ukraine. We invite you to explore, investigate, experience … or just hit up Italianfest and eat your cares away! You decide.

I try to be eclectic in these selections, to make sure I’m covering many tastes and interests, but I think this week I might have outdone myself. Or maybe Cincinnati is simply outdoing itself? You get to decide.

This week appears to be “Theater Week,” with seven (7!) openings between Thursday and Tuesday. On Saturday or Sunday, take Mom out to explore Asian and/or Hispanic food and culture or photos inspired by the pandemic. Happy Mother’s Day! Hug her tight if you still have one.

Churches are full of singing this week if you are craving some great choral music. Otherwise, it’s a another delightful hodge-podge of art, film, literature, music and theater. We wish you a meaningful Holy Week, however you celebrate.
