Culture FIX, May 21-27

This is the week many Cincinnatians have been waiting for – the unofficial start of summer, as the May Festival has its last spring fling in Music Hall, Taste of Cincinnati takes over downtown, and outdoor events bring people out to enjoy the warmer weather in public parks and civic spaces. So let’s get out there!

Culture FIX: April 23-29

With apologies to T.S. Eliot (and to our local TV meteorologists), April is the coolest month. This week brings new cultural offerings from boogie-woogie piano to classic ballet, the daffodilian emergence of outdoor events, colossal Mahler at the CSO, a grand opening for ArtWorks, plus two landmark hippie-era rock musicals. How cool is that?

Culture FIX: Jan. 29-Feb. 4

This week features a number of “once a year” events that you shouldn’t miss. Early music fan? Enjoy concerts all over town for the better part of February. A film festival featuring stories of Israeli and Jewish life, a play in a courthouse and a giant craft beer tasting add to a great mix of events.

Culture FIX, Oct. 23-29

Cincinnati’s fabulous biennial light and art festival is behind us – but that doesn’t mean a bleak, post-BLINK wasteland is ahead of us. Here are some highlights from the coming week’s busy cultural calendar.

Culture FIX, Sept. 25-Oct. 1

We’re beginning to see all the traditional, familiar signs of fall in Cincinnati: The days become shorter than the nights, the Reds miss the playoffs, the Bengals spot the rest of the league three games . . . Still, it’s warm enough to enjoy various outdoor arts and culture events, and this week’s schedule is packed with them.

Culture FIX: May 22-28

We’re at that sweet spot in the calendar where it might not be summer officially, but you certainly can feel it: No more frost advisories. The May Festival wrapping up. Outdoor concert series sprouting throughout the area. And partying with 500,000 of your closest friends at the Taste of Cincinnati. Yep, we’re headed for summer – come what May.

Culture FIX: April 24-30

Cincinnati is among the top cities increasing downtown foot traffic with a 28% increase from last year. This week, we have the Asian Food Fest and Jazz at the Square, plus Tunes & Blooms at the Cincinnati Zoo and other outdoor events. So get out and start trafficking those feet!

Culture FIX: Feb. 21-27

With the wild revelry of Mardi Gras, Valentine’s Day and Presidents’ Day just behind us, you’d think there wouldn’t be much to look forward to this coming week. But we have highlights galore in the next seven days, especially crowd-pleasing theater productions, innovative dance programs and spectacular musical treats – nearly all of which prominently feature women.

Culture FIX: Jan. 17-23

Is it cold enough for you yet? Now that actual winter weather has arrived, many of us may feel that instinct to just hibernate and watch football. And yet, good reasons do exist to get out and participate in Cincinnati culture this week. The calendar may be thinner than usual, but there’s still a good selection of events to warm that winter chill.
