Culture FIX, July 3-9

Sound the Alarm, Stop Making Sense, Tinfoil Hat Cowboys, Rewind to the 80s. No, it’s not a presidential debate. It’s part of this week’s Culture FIX lineup, which features a wide range of outdoor concerts and Fourth of July celebrations. Grab a blanket, pack a picnic and get ready for the fireworks.

Culture FIX: June 19-25

Summer music mainstays anchor the week, but do investigate opportunities we don’t see as often. Memorial Hall welcomes the well-known Al Di Meola and John Oates, while a less well-known Neil Simon play takes the stage in Mason. Two compelling art exhibits open, one up in Dayton, but worth the drive. There’s the Pride parade and festival and “Rocky Horror” in Covington. Stay cool.

Culture FIX: June 21-27

It ain’t summer until the crazy lady sings, at least that’s the case this year. Cincinnati Opera opens with works from 1835 (complete with “mad scene”) and 2021 this week, along with the debut of a new piano competition and the return of a newish chamber festival, while the 2022-23 theater season finally comes to a close. Happy summer!

Culture FIX: May 24-30

This is the beginning of summer, People! Besides the obligatory grilling and swimming pool openings, you might want to balance things out with a little culture, with The Taste around all weekend as an always-ready option. But on a serioius note, please save a space in your heart for those men and women who have gone to battle to keep us as free as we are. Their memory is the reason you have this Monday off.

Culture FIX: June 22-28

The coming week is chock-full of visual art, song and even some art songs, plus a parade and festival overflowing with Pride. A week-long feast for all your senses.

Culture FIX: June 23-29

With our July press deadline breathing down our necks (this morning!), we enlisted three M&M interns to share their take on some of this week’s events. Much gratitude to Kathryn Puskas, Emma Segrest and Katie Wenzel for their input. So, from a few of us to all of you, happy culture shopping and sampling.

Culture FIX: June 9-15

The week ahead affords the opportunity to explore such a broad range of what the human experience has to offer, from the arts to your heart, from race relations to, well, race cars … with a little golf to top things off – all for a good cause, of course.
