What to Do/Hear/See | Aug. 7-13

Our busy August continues this week with a mix of events indoors and out that’ll not only please any taste but can even give you a backup plan in case a pop-up shower, you know, pops up. Read on to see what we mean.

When I was your age, you whippersnappers, we didn’t start school in the middle of August. The arts and culture scene took most of the month off, too. No more. Especially in music, this weekend is nearly as busy as the peak of the traditional season.

What to Do/See/Hear | Aug. 15-21

Don’t be fooled just because most of the Queen City’s school districts are starting their year this week. It’s still summer for another month. There’ll be plenty of balmy weather beckoning you to partake of some of the many activities on tap for you this week.

The strings that bind – or don’t: the Itzkoff-Yenney family

Heidi Yenney and Coleman Itzkoff will both be performing during Summermusik.

“At a certain point, when I was younger, I kind of lost interest,” Coleman said. He pauses for a moment, then rephrases. “Not ‘lost interest,’ but I was leading a double life as a … as a kid, as a skateboarder and as a miscreant, and they had to pull me back from that and say, ‘Enough of the skateboarding.’ ”
