Culture FIX: May 4-10

This week appears to be “Theater Week,” with seven (7!) openings between Thursday and Tuesday. On Saturday or Sunday, take Mom out to explore Asian and/or Hispanic food and culture or photos inspired by the pandemic. Happy Mother’s Day! Hug her tight if you still have one.

Culture FIX: April 20-26

And the seasons begin to close… It does not seem possible that we are nearing the end of the main 2021-22 performance season, but here we are. Get ’em while they’re hot. Just a few weeks left before the switch-over to summer. Still plenty of great things to choose from, I promise!

This is a bunched-up week with big bunches of events: a five-day festival, four days of dance and movies and the CSO, three theater openings, two movie double bills and a two-day symposium, plus one of J.S. Bach’s grandest compositions, capped off by the bigger than life Fran Lebowitz. Good luck keeping up…

As I began to write this on Sunday morning it was 19 degrees. By the time you read it, temps will be closer to 70. Ahh, spring in Cincinnati. Spread your wings, go see some butterflies, and explore any other adventures below that strike your fancy. With very little local involvement in March Madness this year, we can focus on the excitement here in town…

“Bla, bla, bla..”. I type the preceding each week as a placeholder until inspiration finally strikes and I can fill in this intro. It seems especially appropriate in these deepest depths of winter, so here are a few excuses to take your vaccinated/masked self out for some much-needed distraction/insiration.

Some endings. Some beginnings. Some here and gone. All of these event organizers pledge to take the utmost precautions. All vaxxed up and boosted? Don’t blink. Mask up and venture forth. But please be careful.
