The Down Syndrome Association of Greater Cincinnati has selected a seasoned nonprofit leader with strong ties to the local healthcare community as its new executive director.
Beth Smith will join the organization from Pathways to Home, where she has worked to support families living in poverty. With a background in special education, Smith started as a service coordinator, connecting children with intellectual and developmental disabilities and complex medical needs to resources. Over 23 years, she rose through the ranks to become executive director, a role she held for the past decade.
“I’m excited to join the amazing team at DSAGC,” Smith said. “I look forward to working with the community to build on our strengths and drive growth.”
As executive director of Pathways, Smith oversaw significant growth, tripling the organization’s size by introducing new programs to meet evolving community needs. She led initiatives such as opening a second location, developing the Community Navigation Program and launching the Food Pantry Initiative. She also secured funding and donations to expand staff and services.
The Down Syndrome Association described Smith as a “mission-driven leader who cares deeply about those she serves.” In her new role, Smith will work closely with dedicated staff and board to ensure that services continue to meet the ever-changing needs of the Down syndrome community.
Smith starts on Monday, Nov. 4.
“Beth is a mission driven leader who cares deeply about those she serves,” added Erin Brown, DSAGC Board President.
“She leads with curiosity, high empathy, inclusion, and an unwavering commitment to our mission,” Brown added. “We couldn’t be more thrilled to have her on board!”
