Alsop serves as artistic director and chief conductor of the Polish National Radio Symphony, principal guest conductor of London’s Philharmonia Orchestra and principal guest conductor of the Philadelphia Orchestra. She also leads the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s annual summer residencies at Ravinia Festival.

The Vocal Arts Ensemble of Cincinnati has announced that alum Joe Miller will be the fifth music director in its 45 years. The position drew interest from across the nation and around the world.
Julianne Akins Smith comes to Cincinnati from Virginia, where she most recently served as executive director of the Wintergreen Music Festival.
Inspired by what it referes to as her “consummate artistry and revelatory examination of music at the intersection of arts and neuroscience,” the Cincinnati May Festival has named soprano Renée Fleming as its second festival director, in a new model instituted last May.
