ReUse-apalooza: where old is new again!

Friday, May 20, 7-11 p.m., Building Value, 4040 Spring Grove Ave.

ReUse-apalooza! is out to prove that many items are better the second time around. The funky fundraiser for Easter Seals Tristate will feature an auction of repurposed items for the home and garden.

During a kickoff party in March, participants signed up to create auction items for the Designer Challenge.

They have been hard at work, but they also had fun. Brothers Tom and Chris Laux have an informal competition going to see whose item generates the highest bid. Tom Laux and his wife Colleen documented their work on their blog (ourtreasuredlife.com/reuse-apolooza-designer-challenge-2016-part-2).

The grandfather/grandson team of Bob and Jack Sherwood designed an art piece inspired by Louise Nevelson, whose “found art” sculptures are featured at museums worldwide. Jonathon Sherwood, director of quality improvement at Easter Seals TriState, is Jack’s father and Bob’s son.

At the benefit, Ray and Karen of Mix 94.9 FM’s Morning Misfits will conduct the live auction. The party also will include interactive games and entertainment by Sexy Time Live Band Karaoke and My Nose Turns Red Circus. Covington’s Braxton Brewing Co. will serve new beers, and food will come from Downtown and Northside restaurants.
Andrew Setters of WLWT will be the host.

Tickets, at $25, are available online or at the door. Proceeds will benefit Easter Seals TriState programs, including Building Value’s green deconstruction and workforce training efforts.
