Some 1,400 friends and supporters of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center joined special guests from the Cincinnati Reds for the 12th annual Celestial Ball.
The medical facility celebrated another hometown treasure – the baseball team – and how they are working together to help kids in our community reach their potential.
Proceeds from the gala, more than $1 million, will benefit Cincinnati Children’s community initiatives aimed at improving health outcomes for underserved kids. That is one of the pillars of the medical center’s $250 million Change the Outcome Campaign.
“We feel like we’re partners with Cincinnati Children’s,” said Bob Castellini, Reds president and CEO.
Children’s and the Reds team up at the Reds Urban Youth Academy through game day activities for children with chronic illnesses and player visits to the medical center.
Following the dinner program April 9 at Duke Energy Convention Center, a team of more than 30 patient Champions led guests in a seventh-inning-stretch sing-along of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” to kick off the after-party. There, guests enjoyed turn-of-the- century carnival games, late-night bites, live music and dancing.
