The Rey of Light Scholarship Benefit for Students netted more than $515,000 for the DePaul Cristo Rey Scholarship Fund. The April 16 event drew a sold-out crowd of more than 400 to the DPCR Student Center.
Guests rushed to outbid one another electronically on silent auction items and participated in the live auction of 40 items, ranging from dining and entertainment experiences to vacations.
During the live auction, the audience watched a video of the school’s graduating seniors sharing their stories of struggle and success. It was shown just before the Fund-A-Need paddle raise for scholarships, which alone brought in more than $190,000.
Rey of Light was chaired by Michele and Michael Schuster, with Alison and Tim Warning as co-chairs. Presenting sponsors were Fast Park & Relax, Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati and a friend of DePaul Cristo Rey. Platinum sponsors were the Heidt Family Foundation and the SC Ministry Foundation.
