ReUse-apalooza, a one-of-a-kind fundraiser staged by Easterseals for Building Value, celebrates visionaries who can see new life and new purpose in salvaged building materials.
Those creative stars are invited to take part in ReUse-apalooza’s Designer Challenge.
The challenge is open to amateur and professional designers who can create new pieces from reused or repurposed items. Individuals, teams and companies are all encouraged to participate.
Potential entrants are invited to meet at the Building Value retail store, 4040 Spring Grove Ave., Northside, at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 3. Contestants will learn about the Designer Challenge and can pick up a $125 credit to apply to Building Value purchases for their project.
All pieces must be made from a majority of reused or repurposed items, and finished by May 6, with a photo submitted for the mobile bidding platform. Items must be delivered to Building Value by May 12.
For those who can’t attend the March 3 get-together, registration packets will be available at the Building Value until April 20, when registration closes.
The finished pieces will be auctioned during ReUse-apalooza on May 18, 7-11 p.m. at Building Value. Besides the Designer Challenge auction, the evening will include food by the bite from local vendors, a cash bar and an eclectic assortment of entertainment, including a DJ; award-winning magician Brett Sears; jugglers from Cincinnati Circus; origami artists; and the Lip Sync Battle.
Early-bird admission to ReUse-apalooza is $35 through April 15.
All funds raised benefit Easterseals and its programs, including Building Value.
