Great Parks reopens disc golf course at Winton Woods

Great Parks has reopened the disc golf course at Winton Woods after completing a major renovation.

Crews realigned holes to improve playability and flow. They added two basket locations for each hole, creating flexible layouts for players of all skill levels. Workers also installed new tee pads, baskets and signs.

Beyond the course upgrades, staff began restoring the surrounding landscape by removing invasive plants such as honeysuckle and planting native species. Great Parks plans to continue that work to support biodiversity and healthy ecosystems.

The Winton Woods upgrade is part of a larger effort to improve disc golf across the park system – work that stems directly from community feedback gathered through Great Parks’ Park and Facility Master Plans. Great Parks renovated the Woodland Mound course in 2023 and will expand Miami Whitewater Forest’s nine-hole layout to 18 holes later this year. The final course, at Embshoff Woods Nature Preserve, is scheduled for design in late 2025 and construction in 2026.

The renovations are among several levy legacy projects funded by the 0.95-mill levy approved by Hamilton County voters in 2021.

“Our renovation of this course delivers on a commitment to Hamilton County residents and improves another attraction for guests at Winton Woods,” said Todd Palmeter, Great Parks CEO. “We worked closely with the disc golf community to ensure this course will be welcoming to new players but still challenging to more experienced disc golfers. It’s a fun sport that we hope more of our guests will play.”
