Findlay Market collecting costumes, candy for community Halloween drive

Findlay Market is inviting the community to help make Halloween a little sweeter – and more accessible – for local families.

Through Oct. 23, the market is hosting its annual Costume & Candy Drive, encouraging the public to donate new or gently used costumes and unopened bags of candy so kids can enjoy the holiday at no cost. Donations can be dropped off at the Market Center, 1801 Race St., or coordinated by emailing kshouse@findlaymarket.org.

Last year, the market team collected 750 costumes and 12,000 pieces of candy, and organizers hope to surpass that total in 2025. Costumes of all sizes are welcome, from infants to adults, along with sealed bags of candy.

Families can pick up donated costumes during a Costume Pickup Event on Sunday, Oct. 26, starting at 11 a.m. at Findlay Market. Costumes will be available while supplies last. The event will also feature the “Nightmare on Elder Street” haunted tent, hosted by Makers Bakers Co. and ETC Produce & Provisions on the north side of the Market.

The Halloween fun continues with several seasonal events throughout the Market District:

  • Halloween Bites & Delights Tasting Tour, Saturday, Oct. 25, 2-3:30 p.m. The guided tasting tour includes six stops featuring food and drinks from local merchants, including lasagna from Bouchard’s Pasta, gelato from Dojo Gelato, and chocolates from Maverick Chocolate Co. Tickets are $35 and limited to 12 participants.
  • Trick or Treat at Findlay Market, Friday, Oct. 31, 4-6 p.m. Market merchants will hand out candy to kids in costume while community partners host free, family-friendly activities.
  • Howl-O-Ween Dog Costume Contest, Saturday, Nov. 1, 4:30-6 p.m. at Jane’s on the corner of Elm and Elder streets. Prizes include a year of free food from Pet Wants for the first-place pup and gift cards for the runners-up.
