Caracole was already bringing extra attitude to its fourth Party in Plaid by inviting punk to the party.
But now… now, it has star power in the form of “Project Runway” All Star Asha Ama Daniels.
Daniels’ unique design aesthetic appeals to teen superstars and country music royalty. The Cincinnati native (and outspokenly proud graduate of St. Ursula Academy and the University of Cincinnati’s DAAP program) will be making a special runway appearance, showcasing her award-winning design, as seen on pop star Zendaya.
In its fourth year, Caracole’s annual fundraiser has evolved from a plain little Party in Plaid to plaid plus polka dots, then to plaid and paisley. It has a serious purpose – to raise funds for the HIV/AIDS services it provides – and the evening will honor longtime friends of Caracole, Freeman Durham and Jim Schwab.
But then it’s time to party. Asha and Caracole supporters at Party in Plaid and Punk will be treated to a live band, cocktails, dinner by the bite by Jeff Thomas Catering, the fashion show, and a dance party hosted by DJ Pillo.
Lacking a little attitude of your own? Local hairstylists and MAC cosmetics will be set up on site to add a little punk to your look. A punk pop-up shop will provide ripped T-shirts, safety pins and all the red tartan to complete your edgy ensemble.
Founded in 1987, Caracole was the first licensed care facility in Ohio for adults living with HIV/AIDS. Proceeds from the party will help support Caracole’s mission of providing housing and services for individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS.
Tickets start at $40 for young professionals and $75 for general admission.
