A sold-out crowd filled the theater at the School of Creative and Performing Arts to see the Righteous Brothers in concert. The benefit was organized by Neal Schear of Schear & Schear and Larry Bergman of NAI Bergman to raise money for Starfire.
Working with one person at a time, Starfire connects people, helping those with developmental disabilities build relationships and uncovering individuals’ talents and passions, so they can thrive in their communities.
When Starfire faced financial cuts at the beginning of 2016, Schear and his lifelong friend Bergman stepped up to rally for the cause. Through this event, they helped gain awareness for Starfire’s vision and raised more than $125,000 for the organization. This will help Starfire continue to work toward its vision of a more inclusive Cincinnati.
Schear, who has been a Starfire board member, said, “I’ve learned about myself and the importance of the support of people around me. I’ve come to realize I’ve taken for granted that I have friends and that my family is healthy.”
