The fireworks of Riverfest signal the cultural end of summer in these parts. Traditionally that would usher in a transitional week or two as indoor seasons ramp up. No more. There’s so much to do, see and hear this week that one would never guess we’re supposed to be “between” seasons.
The Duke Energy Foundation recently awarded $170,000 in grants to 14 organizations in Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky to fund local wildlife conservation, healthy habitats, environmental projects and environmental programs.

Mayor John Cranley has declared September 1, 2020 Community Gardens Day in conjunction with the Civic Garden Center’s 40th anniversary.
The Duke Energy Foundation has awarded $253,178 to help support 16 projects to aid wetlands, conservation, outdoor nature classrooms, invasive plant removals, water quality, new tree plantings and pollinator gardens.
Members of Green Umbrella, the regional sustainability alliance, are working to reduce food waste and improve fresh food access and energy efficiency through grant funding totaling $75,000, provided by the Duke Class Benefit Fund.
