The Covington-Cincinnati Suspension Bridge Committee has announced the winners of its annual “Focus on the Roebling” photo contest. The Roebling Bridge Photo Contest is intended to focus attention on the historic John A. Roebling Bridge and the nonprofit staffed by volunteers responsible for promoting the area’s icon and keeping the suspension bridge looking beautiful.
The competition’s host is the Covington-Cincinnati Suspension Bridge Committee, a resident-led group dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of the span.
My investigation into the 1867 John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge, spanning the Ohio River between Cincinnati and Covington, began last January when a friend asked me to edit a novel. I found quickly it was difficult to get definitive answers to my questions, especially when a river is very … well, variable.
The Roebling Bridge is one of the most photographed landmarks in our region. This summer, six people who submit their work will win a coveted prize: a trip to the top of the bridge’s south tower. Those under the age of 18 are now eligible to compete and earn gift cards.
